The health care needs of patients impacted by sex trafficking are unique and complex. HCAST Works with local survivors, health care providers, and community agenices to create evidence-based recommendationsfpr organizational policy, health care treatment, and referral guidelines that facilitate access to comprehensive and trauma-informed services.

General Policy and Practice Improvement Goals for Healthcare Organizations

o Improve awareness and knowledge of healthcare providers and staff

o Improve organizations’ ability to ensure comprehensive health care services

o Improve access to quality health care and community services

o Develop health care treatment and referral processes/protocols

o Empower patients to develop healthy habits and utilize harm reduction strategies
